PIP-XX: VeloraDAO Sponsorship of Governance Day 2025 – Buenos Aires

Abstract

This proposal seeks DAO approval for VeloraDAO to sponsor Governance Day 4th Edition 2025, taking place November 15–16, 2025 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina (UCA), Buenos Aires.

Governance Day has already established itself as the leading global event for DAO governance. In 2024, at Devcon SEA in Bangkok, over 1200 people registered, with more than 200 participants and 30 speakers coming together. Co-organized by SeedGov and Curia Lab, the event was widely recognized as a hub for innovative governance discussions and collaborations.

Co-organized by SEEDGov and Curia Lab, and widely recognized as a hub for innovative governance discussions and collaborations.

Sponsorship in 2025 would position VeloraDAO alongside these leading governance organizations, amplifying the DAO visibility, enabling stage presence, and opening the door to new partnerships in the global DAO ecosystem.

Thanks for the proposal! This could be interesting if tied with other things like:

  • Major announcement ($VLR anyone? :innocent:)
  • Velora DAO representatives (or Laita) already in the city for other events.

Curious to see how it fits into the VGC overall strategy.

Strongly supportive of this proposal. To maximize ROI if we choose to move forward, our preference is Gold (panel slot + booth + opening ceremony mention), maybe with an upgrade to Platinum only if we can anchor a coordinated announcement (e.g., roadmap update). It’s more than worth it to get at least gold-tier in order to continue increasing awareness around the rebrand. We just think that larger sums of money should be well-spent. Although we can’t really do KPI-based disbursement here, it could be helpful to have a retrospective after the fact on metrics like number of BD leads captured on-site, session attendees, post-event reach, etc. I see this listed in the expected outcomes but wasn’t sure if this was planning on being formally reported after the event.

The Luma pages and metrics look strong. We’re definitely aligned as US-based VGC members; happy to fit in content into our comms calendar.

This is interesting and educational, and I also notice some reputable names involved. That said, I’m generally not in favor of this type of sponsorship given our limited treasury size. If we were larger, it might be easier to justify.
That being said, I could support the silver plan—particularly if we can align the event with an announcement or if i see positive feedback from VGC.

Thank you for bringing this proposal to the DAO! We very much look forward to attending the event ourselves come November.

To begin with, I want to caveat with saying that we have yet to fully think this proposal through and remain undecided on whether or not this would be a good investment for the DAO to make, though would like to hear some more argument in support of this.

We fully agree that more visibility and comms around the rebrand etc would be great, though at first impression it seems that there would be other, more cost-effective ways to spread that message online - or what are your thoughts there? And why specifically a “governance” event over a DeFi-focused one, for example?

Looking forward to hear the opinions of other delegates on this one. Thanks again!

Thank you for putting this forward. I to share some of the concerns brought up by VTM that treasury spend should always be carefully weighed but I also see this event as well aligned with where Velora is heading. With the rebrand and DIPs maturing, a presence at the leading governance event could help position Velora not only as an valued ecosystem intent centric protocol that sustains DeFi abstracting complexities but as a true ecosystem governance example. If we look at metrics the DAO feels mature and contributors ready to “eat” proposals dissecting impacts, do’s and don’t, we deserve our place at the governance leaders table.

In light of concerns re spend, first I would have supported Platinum but perhaps I am to excited and to take into consideration @Avantgarde PoV perhaps the Gold tier seems a good balance: panel + booth presence give us tangible visibility, while keeping spend moderate.

On another note since @SEEDGov will already be present and are also part of VGC, there’s an opportunity to capture some concrete leads and potential integration partners. I’d also be glad to make myself available to help with follow-ups, whether that’s API questions or further discussions so any pipeline gathered at the event has a higher chance of translating into ROI for the DAO. (build that list frens and pass it on)

Overall I am happy to support this, with the caveat that a short retrospective post-event (attendees, BD conversations, reach metrics) would be important for accountability and learning and perhaps showcase if the DAO should consider those events further more.

We support the Gold sponsorship tier as the right balance of visibility and spend. At $4,000, Gold secures a panel slot and booth presence, which are the two highest-leverage assets for awareness and BD without paying the Platinum premium for a dedicated talk. Day 2 is visibility-only anyway, so the incremental Platinum benefits look marginal unless we’re anchoring a major announcement; something we are aligned with prior comments on regarding “Gold unless big news” sentiment.

The proposal’s KPIs—100+ attendees at our session, ≥5 qualified follow-ups, and ≥10k content impressions—are sensible targets for Gold’s stage + booth footprint. Additionally, on treasury prudence, Gold directly addresses cost sensitivity raised in the thread while still ensuring real presence. To maximize outcomes, we think committing 2–3 team members on-site to run the booth and capture leads and publish a short post-event metrics report for accountability.

To clarify - we are not against this initiative nor do we have any objection on the spending amount from a treasury pov, but simply interested to hear the arguments for why this could be a good ROI and how we could make the most out of it should we vote this through; especially around the potential leads and follow-ups and what those might be. We will be present at the event ourselves to represent the DAO.

Thank you for the proposal. I support opting for a Gold sponsorship, subject to two conditions:

  1. Event Suitability: This event is a good choice for Velora’s representation, provided no better alternatives, such as DeFi-focused events, are available.
  2. VGC Member Participation: Some VGC members should be able to attend in person to leverage partnership and BD opportunities.

Additionally, I strongly believe the current developments within Velora DAO, under @SEEDGov’s stewardship, could be showcased at this Governance Day event. Velora DAO is more active than ever and the highly debated proposal PIP-59: Proposal for Returning 40,203 wETH to Bybit After 10% Bounty Deduction could be used as a key point of focus. This proposal sparked significant debate and won the closest vote in Velora DAO history. Sharing these milestones would highlight Velora DAO’s vibrant governance and engagement.

The DAO can leverage this event to enhance its governance expertise through knowledge sharing, while also fostering business development and partnerships with key projects in attendance.

In strong support of VeloraDAO sponsorship- Governance Day 2025. I believe this sponsorship is a high-leverage opportunity to showcase Velora’s latest innovations to a targeted and influential audience. The chance to actually meet and talk with the top teams and researchers in this space is great.

I see clear value in VeloraDAO joining Governance Day 2025. Sponsorship could position VeloraDAO as a thought leader and expand our network with other DAO builders and researchers.

For the package, I’d lean toward Gold. At $4K it feels like a safer option for the DAO right now, striking a balance between cost and potential value creation. If DAO specifically wants speaking rights or to curate a track, then it may make sense to upgrade to Platinum.

That said, the audience size (300–400 people onsite) is relatively small compared to other events, so ROI might be limited if we expect broad marketing impact.

Also KPIs like impressions or potential leads are mostly long term and don’t give the treasury a clear sense of impact right after the event. So do we have other KPIs that can be tracked right after the event?

Overall, I support the direction and believe a sponsorship package makes sense. Looking forward to hearing how the team plans to activate VeloraDAO’s presence at the event.

We appreciate this proposal and the opportunity it presents. Governance Day is an established and respected gathering for DAO governance, and having attended last year’s edition, we know the value of the conversations that take place there. Our position is not that the event lacks merit, but rather that VeloraDAO’s rationale for sponsoring it is not yet sufficiently clear from our perspective.

The proposal lists KPIs of 100+ attendees, 5 follow-ups, and 10k impressions. While these are reasonable benchmarks, their significance depends entirely on who they capture, users, governance contributors, or partners.

For governance contributor recruitment, the case is weak in our understanding. Velora already sustains a strong pipeline with 16 participants for 15 reward slots, and some more may be working on entry. From our perspective, investing further to expand contributor numbers does not add much value.

Or, if we aim to approach the quality aspects of Velora DAO governance, the KPI would be more on what the Velora DAO delegates learn/gain through this conference, while the prerequisite would be that a meaningful number of participants from Velora DAO are expected.

For partnerships, we see potential, but whether Governance Day draws the right stakeholders is uncertain. Compared with DeFi-focused events, the fit for partnership-driven objectives may be less direct, as @Avantgarde mentioned.

Therefore, while we appreciate the initiative, we cannot support sponsorship at this stage.
Again, we are not entirely against sponsoring this event, but we believe we need more clarity on the strategic purpose of such sponsorship, what we want to achieve, which audience we want to reach, and how success should be measured.

Thanks everyone for the thoughtful feedback.

Good question @Avantgarde! The reason we see Governance Day as different from a DeFi-focused event is the audience profile. Most attendees are DAO contributors, delegates, and protocol teams shaping governance across ecosystems. For Velora, this spend is about highlighting Velora DAO itself in a governance-first setting, not just visibility, but positioning ourselves in those conversations and creating room for future partnerships or integrations.

@Ignas Direct KPIs tied to treasury impact are difficult to capture right after the event. The goal here has already been set more broadly, it’s not only about treasury returns, but also about supporting Velora’s decentralization. The focus is on raising awareness among protocols and delegates, which is especially important given the recent rebrand.

The networking aspect is what matters most: building relationships, opening doors to integrations and partnerships with other DAOs and protocols. Those outcomes don’t show up as instant revenue, but over time they expand Velora’s reach and strengthen both the treasury and the protocol’s decentralization.

Thanks @Tane for raising these points. To clarify, the goal here isn’t just contributor recruitment, The value of Governance Day is more about awareness post-rebrand and positioning Velora among governance peers, while opening doors for partnerships or integrations with other protocols and DAOs. We agree KPIs should go beyond impressions or headcount, so we’d focus on who we engaged with, follow-ups initiated, and governance-relevant conversations. A short retrospective can make this transparent and help evaluate future sponsorships. Online comms are of course important, but in-person trust-building and networking at governance-focused events offer a different layer of value that’s hard to replicate digitally.

In our experience, governance-focused events are a strong fit for connecting with partners and peers in the ecosystem. We believe Velora DAO operates in a healthy and effective way, and it would be great to showcase its governance model in a relevant setting.

The Gold tier seems to be the best fit. The outcome might be uncertain, but the potential upside is high. That said, having post-event metrics is a must.

This event can serve as a focal point for our DAO participants to meet, and since Velora doesn’t typically do large-scale event activations at conferences, this could be very useful.
WakeUp Labs can also confirm its participation on-site at the event.

Just to clarify: if Velora DAO, together with Laita Labs, ends up organizing its own event and/or actively participating in other DeFi conferences (which we believe would make a lot of sense and would fully support), it could take away much of the weight and value we currently see with this initiative.

Thank you to Curia for putting forward this proposal, it makes a lot of sense to position VeloraDAO in global governance spaces. As a DAO currently going through a rebranding process and maturing its governance, being present at Governance Day is a strategic opportunity to reinforce credibility, build partnerships, and showcase our evolving direction.

A few points I believe could strengthen the proposal:

  • It would be great to have more concrete KPIs beyond impressions, such as: number of partnership leads that evolve into collaborations, invitations to future projects, or institutional relationships that materialize within 3 months after the event.

  • Ensuring that 2–3 Velora representatives are physically present at the booth and actively engaging is crucial to maximizing value, presence alone isn’t enough, activation on-site is what drives results.

  • I strongly recommend planning a structured social media activation: communication ahead of the event, live coverage during (photos, key moments, updates), and a recap afterwards. This expands visibility for those who won’t attend in person and reinforces Velora’s public narrative.

  • A formal post-event retrospective with real metrics, media recap, and feedback from attendees would also be valuable to measure outcomes and guide improvements for future sponsorships.

Personally, I am planning to attend Governance Day in Buenos Aires, and I believe that together with other delegates, we could contribute meaningfully to Velora’s presence and representation during the event.

Perhaps @0xYtocin as Head Of Gov Strategy could add two further cents on this sponsorship proposal. As we gear up for the vote, echoing @jameskbh, will @Laita be present at the event? And how do you see this helping Laita as a key DAO service provider in advancing our mission ?
