Introduction

Paraswap DAO currently faces challenges in ensuring transparency and accountability regarding its treasury holdings and financial activities. Octav specializes in blockchain financial data aggregation and reporting, making it an ideal partner to enhance transparency for Paraswap DAO’s stakeholders. This document outlines how Octav can provide structured, data-driven treasury reconciliation and reporting to improve financial oversight and community trust.

Problem Statement

Effective treasury management within DAOs requires structured reporting and transparency to ensure informed decision-making and community engagement. The primary challenges Paraswap DAO faces include:

  • Lack of consolidated financial reports – Without structured monthly reports, tracking total treasury holdings, wallet positions, and protocol deposits can be challenging.
  • Limited visibility for stakeholders – DAO members and the community require clear, easy-to-understand financial insights to assess treasury performance and strategic allocations.
  • Compliance and governance challenges – Ensuring transparency in treasury transactions is critical for fostering trust and maintaining regulatory readiness.

Proposed Solution by Octav

Octav offers a comprehensive approach to solving Paraswap DAO’s transparency challenges by providing structured treasury reconciliation and financial reporting services.

1. Monthly Treasury Transparency Reports :bar_chart:

Octav will deliver 12 monthly treasury reconciliation reports for Paraswap DAO, offering a comprehensive breakdown of:

  • Key Metrics Report – Total funds, wallet positions, protocol positions, total funds by category, and total funds by network.
  • Wallet Positions Report – Detailed analysis of tokens held in treasury wallets, including balance, value, percentage allocation, and network distribution.
  • Protocol Positions Report – Breakdown of protocol deposits, including staked amount, yield, protocol, balance, and value.
  • PDF and CSV Reports – Treasury data will be available in both PDF and CSV formats, ensuring compatibility with other treasury tracking software and compliance tools.

2. Treasury Dashboard & Transaction History :chart_increasing:

Octav will provide a live treasury dashboard that allows Paraswap DAO members to:

  • Monitor treasury holdings in real-time.
  • Label and reconcile transactions to enhance community transparency.
  • Track all DAO treasury transactions with detailed categorization.

We would be in favor of a more transparent dashboard for treasury and fee flows. The ask isn’t terribly expensive for an annual subscription either. However, my hesitancy is primarily around making this a one-off grant as opposed a concerted effort around broader treasury management. @Avantgarde has been working on a potential proposal for treasury activation. I think having a conversation with their team would be more conducive to getting a dashboard across the line. The Avantgarde team may also propose their own dashboard and reports, so we wouldn’t want teams conducting overlapping work.

Thanks for this proposal @attrius.

As @AranaDigital mentions there’s ongoing work being done by core contributors/delegates to bring structure to the treasury and how Paraswap manages and distributes its assets. Would be interesting to have a call with your team to see if and how this could potentially complement these efforts. Feel free to DM!

I must confess that when joining the DAO I had some difficulties to understand this topic within the DAO.

It would be nice to have a tool like this if it does not overlap with current efforts on that field.

Could you share your past reports or dashboards that you previously built for a DAO, or any similar services you have provided? I couldn’t find any on the website.

In general, I support proposals that clearly address an issue, have a fair requested budget, and fit within the current scope of the DAO.

It would also be appreciated if you could have further discussions with @Avantgarde to explore any potential complementary efforts.

We think this is something an internal role can handle. If that role is covered by @Avantgarde in the future, they can decide whether the service is useful for them and choose to use it.

We commend the initiative to enhance financial oversight within the DAO. The proposal to collaborate with Octav, a firm specializing in blockchain financial data aggregation and reporting, promises to address current challenges related to treasury transparency and accountability.

At a high level, we are in favor of this financial auditing. By implementing structured monthly reports and real-time dashboards, stakeholders will gain clearer insights into the DAO’s financial health, fostering informed decision-making and bolstering community trust.

However, it’s important to consider potential concerns associated with this partnership. Integrating external reporting services may introduce dependencies that could affect the DAO’s autonomy and data security and the scope of services should be clearly defined to avoid any ambiguities that might lead to misaligned expectations or unforeseen costs.

Overall, the proposed collaboration with Octav represents a significant step toward enhancing transparency within the DAO. We think our largest feedback here is just that we would love to see a RFP style selection process to achieve this mandate, and have a couple options to choose from.

Hi @attrius , thanks for the proposal!

As @AranaDigital suggested, we recommend that, to avoid overlaps, before moving forward with this proposal, and as @Avantgarde offered, you get in touch with them, as they are working on some initiatives related to the DAO’s treasury.

We kindly requests both you and Avantgarde to keep us informed about the progress of this contact. Thanks!
